Church Entrance Stairway Renewal Underway - update 23 August

23 Aug Update – forms have been removed.  A bit of concrete finishing will be done this week.

21 Aug Update – the new concrete has been poured.  After it cures a bit the forms will be removed and new railings will be ordered.

The stone stairs leading from the street to the church entrance have served us well for many years, but time and weather have taken their toll. With noticeable shifting, cracking, and some steps becoming unstable, this year’s vestry approved a much-needed project to replace the stairs and bring them up to modern standards.

Work officially began on August 18th, starting with the removal of the old stone steps and the demolition of the upper patio, which had also begun to crack and shift over time.

In a lovely continuation of generosity, Anthony—who donated our heat pumps last summer (and which we’ve been especially grateful for during this hot season!)—has requested to repurpose the old stone. The stairs have been carefully set aside for him to collect.

We’re excited to see this transformation unfold and will keep you updated as the project progresses!

Tying in to the retaining wall at the sidewalk took a bit of extra formwork.

The stamped concrete gives a stone-like look at the top. Below the crew is finishing up the stairs which will have a brushed surface for better traction in the winter.

🐾 Pet Blessing Service – 5 October 202

Celebrating the Season of Creation

As part of our Season of Creation observance, we invite you to bring your cherished pets to a special blessing service on Sunday, 5 October, immediately following the 10am worship.

This joyful tradition celebrates the animals who share our lives and reminds us of our sacred connection to all living things. Whether furry, feathered, or scaled, all pets (and their humans!) are welcome.

If your pet is shy, anxious, or unable to attend in person, feel free to bring a photo or a small item that represents them—we’ll gladly include them in the blessing.

Let’s give thanks together for the gift of creation and the companions who bring us so much love.

We’re taking a summer break and will be back in the fall! Our next discussion will be on The Girls Take Control on October 28—a compelling sequel to our May selection, Frenemy Matriarchs, by Geoffrey Kiggundu, a fellow Grace parishioner.

If you are interested in ordering these novels, please let me or Geoffrey know. The author can get a discount. Each book is $20. They will make great summer reading.

Help Us Keep Grace Beautiful
— Garden Volunteers Welcome

Our church property is blessed with beautiful gardens that bring joy to our congregation and many in the Milton community. These vibrant green spaces are lovingly cared for by volunteers, and we’re always grateful for extra hands.

If you can spare an hour on a Wednesday evening, we’d love for you to join us in tending the flower beds along the front and side of Grace Church. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just eager to learn, we’ll provide all the guidance you need.

Come be part of this peaceful and rewarding way to care for God’s creation — and enjoy a little fresh air and fellowship while you’re at it.

Christmas Market Raffle

It’s only March, but we’re already preparing for this year’s much-anticipated Christmas Market on November 8th!

We’re working hard to have the raffle tickets ready by July, which means we need to gather prizes before the tickets are printed.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Do you have gift cards you’d like to contribute? These make excellent raffle prizes, and we would be so grateful for your donation.

  • We’re also collecting regifted items for our silent auction, card game, and shoebox raffle.

Your generosity helps make this event a success, and we’re incredibly thankful for your support!

If you’d like to donate or have any questions, please reach out to our Christmas Market Convenors, Kim Ramsden or Zina Yaworski.

Healing Prayer Requests

Each week during our service we pray for those who have requested to be remembered in our public prayers for healing. If you are in need of our prayers and want your name included, please contact our office to have your name added to our list.  Our weekly list is renewed each month so please remember to add your name if your need continues.

Confidential Prayer Requests

If you prefer to keep your name confidential, you can call or email our Rector or Prayer Team directly. You will be prayed for, but your name will not be read in public at our worship services or published in any way to respect your privacy.
