Something for Everyone!

Lenten Book Study

This year Bishop Bell is recommending 3 books: The Unfolding Gospel by John P. Bowen, The Rebel Christ by Michael Coren and Why Gather? by Martha Tatarnic. All three authors live in our Niagara Diocese.

The first book we’ll read is John Bowen’s book. We will meet on three Wednesday nights on Zoom at 7pm on 8, 15 and 29 March to study it. The Unfolding Gospel is available on Amazon. You can also check your local book store.

Make a Gift to GIFT this Lent

Lent is a time of dedication and re-dedication to our spiritual life. We take these 40 days to devote time to drawing closer to God and God’s work. We re-connect and more deeply connect to the divine. We do this through prayer, Bible Study, special devotions, and giving to the Church. This Lent we are reviving our GIFT (Grace Investing For Tomorrow) program. In the past few years we had a yellow ribbon campaign to reimburse a loan from our Rectory Fund. That is now paid off. Thank you to everyone who made an extra gift for this appeal over the past few years at Christmas. Now we need to focus on raising funds for our Capital Fund which has been depleted as we’ve made repairs to our beautiful historic building. We are praying you will be able to make a special gift to GIFT this Lent. It will be a purple ribbon campaign this year.

Lenten Calendar

In Lent, many Christians commit to fasting, as well as giving up certain luxuries in order to replicate the account of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ’s journey into the desert for 40 days; this is known as one’s Lenten sacrifice. Many Christians also add a Lenten spiritual discipline, such as reading a daily devotional or praying through a Lenten calendar, to draw themselves near to God.

The link below provides a Lenten calendar you can use.

This ‘competition’ begins on Ash Wednesday. The last Saint standing gets the golden halo. Go to lentmadness.org to sign up for this fun Lenten activity.

Food Donation Grace Anglican Church in Milton Ontario

Food Donations during Lent

Considering the high cost of food and food insecurity in our area, not to mention Lent is a time to give to those in need, Grace Church is inviting its members to bring in donations of non-perishable food items. The collection will be donated to local food banks in Milton

Turkey and Syria Earthquake

If you feel called to help the people affected by these earthquakes we encourage you to make a donation through our Anglican Church of Canada’s emergency relief fund. PWRDF is partnering with ACT (Action of Churches Together) to bring relief to the people in those regions of Turkey and Syria who have experienced so much devastation.  Grace Church has already made a $1,000 donation from our Outreach Grants Committee.

We  also invite everyone to pray for those who have died, those who have survived and for the emergency and relief workers who are on the scene. Our prayers of love and concern will be felt by those for whom we pray.
